Hen wlad fy nhadau

Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn anwyl i mi,
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri;
Ei gwrol rhyfelwyr, gwlad garwyr tra mad,
Tros ryddid collasant eu gwaed.

Chorus:
Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad,
Tra mor yn fur
I'r bur hoff bau,
O bydded i'r heniaith barhau.

2. Hen Gymru fynyddig, paradwys y bardd,
Pob dyffryn, pob clogwyn, i'm golwg sydd hardd;
Trwy deimlad gwladgarol, mor swynol yw si
Ei nentydd, afonydd, i mi.

Chorus:

3. Os treisiodd y gelyn fy ngwlad dan ei droed,
Mae hen iaith y Cymry mor fyw ag erioed,
Ni luddiwyd yr awen gan erchyll law brad,
Na thelyn berseiniol fy ngwlad.

Chorus:

The Welsh National Anthem was composed by a father and son from Aberdare.  Evan James, a weaver, wrote the words in 1856 and his son James James did the music. The anthem is without doubt the greatest anthem on the planet.  No-one, no matter what country you come from can argue with this one!  Admittedly it helps if you speak Welsh but we all "tra-la-la-la" to the French one - don't we?  The Welsh love singing so much they even sing Flower of Scotland and Ireland's Call!!!  Mad or what?  To hear the greatest song ever sung visit the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, 6 Nations.  It helps if we're playing england.
